As part of the innovative NëFshat2 project, an initiative that aims to involve young people in creating models for Albanian tourist villages, we, as part of a media team, embarked on a special journey to the heart of the village of Nepravishtë. “The NëFshat2 project is supported by GIZ through the German Government.” This experience was more than just a simple trip; it was an open window to the traditions, hospitality, and authentic values of rural Albania.
Our journey began with a stop at Life on the Farm, a family-run guesthouse that offered us an unforgettable experience. There, we had the opportunity to taste traditional dishes from the area, prepared with love and dedication by the local residents. Every bite was an invitation to savor the rich history and culture of this land, where culinary traditions are still carefully preserved.

Next, our path led us to the Teqeja e Melanit (Melani’s Tekke), a state-protected site, where we had a fruitful conversation with the Baba (head of the tekke) and the Dervish (spiritual leader). Here, we learned more about the history and significance of this sacred place for the local community and beyond, offering us a deep insight into the spiritual and cultural aspects of life in the village.

Our final stop was at the Ballkoni i Nepravishtës (Nepravishtë’s Balcony), where we were warmly welcomed once again by the local villagers. They offered us their traditional foods, a clear manifestation of the love and pride they feel for their culture. What made this experience even more special was the presence of local children, dressed in traditional costumes, who entertained us with their folk songs. Their vibrant voices and colorful attire created a unique atmosphere.
Perhaps the most memorable part of this journey was the hospitality of the residents of Nepravishtë. At every step of this trip, they made us feel like part of their family. With the love and warmth they showed, they reminded us that hospitality is a deeply-rooted value that lives in the hearts of Albanians, especially in their beautiful, untouched villages.

The NëFshat2 project is not only contributing to the involvement of young people in the development of tourist villages but also offering all of us an opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of Albania through its traditions, stunning landscapes, and wonderful people. This journey showed us how much a village can offer when we look at it with the right perspective and experience it with an open heart.
Our trip to Nepravishtë reminded us once again of the value of preserving our cultural heritage and the beauty of authenticity. At the end of the day, this was more than just a visit to a village – it was an experience that touched our souls and showed us that the beauty of Albania is found not only in its landscapes but also in the hearts of the people who bring it to life.
