If your startup is an innovative, early-stage business that is developing technology to make the agricultural and food industries greener and more sustainable, then the EBRD AgVenture competition could be for you.

We want to hear from young agrifood technology businesses that operate in the economies where the EBRD invests and that focus on greening the agrifood sector.

What will you win?

  • A tailored advisory service through the EBRD Star Venture programme worth €80,000 for winners and €50,000 for runners-up. Over an 18-month period you will receive:
    • a systematic business diagnostic assessment
    • customised advisory support from consultants
    • online/in-person mentoring sessions
    • access to opportunites
  • A €10,000 reimbursable grant for business growth needs
  • Visibility at global agrifood tech forums
  • Links to the EBRD and other networks

Are you eligible?

Apply for EBRD AgVenture if:

  • Your start-ups aims to improve environmental sustainability in the agrifood technology sector by providing a solution that addresses green issues across any aspect of the food value chain, from farming, processing and food packaging, to trading, logistics, distribution and retail.
  • most of your operations are in the economies where the EBRD invests*
  • you have an annual turnover of up to €1 million
  • you have been in business for less than 10 years
  • your product/service has a Technology Readiness Level of between 7 and 9, as defined by the European Commission in the Horizon 2020 programme.

Timeline (for 2024 intake)

The deadline to submit your application is 26th August 2024 at 23:59 BST.

What to expect:

  • A preliminary selection notification will go out to startups, with an invitation to a pitching session
  • An initial 8-minute pitch presentation to a panel of experts
  • Notification of the 6 finalists, who are invited to pitch on 30th September 2024 at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit London, in person in London, United Kingdom
  • An online pitching training for the 6 finalists, to gain expertise prior to the event
  • A pitching session, and presentation of three winners and three runners up on 30th September 2024 at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit London
  • 18 months of support from the EBRD to disseminate the EBRD AgVenture awards package

The EBRD AgVenture competition is funded by Spain through the EBRD’s High-Impact Partnership on Climate Action – HIPCA (which is also supported by AustriaCanadaFinland, the NetherlandsSouth KoreaSwitzerland, the TaiwanICDF, the United Kingdom and the United States of America).
