Besar Berdica, the man who created FastPayroll, has built something that puts an end to payroll headaches. It’s a platform that makes everything quick and easy — the kind of thing that makes you wonder, “Where has this been all my life?” In this interview, he tells us how it all started, what inspires him to keep going, and the plans he has in mind for the platform’s future.
Turning a pile of papers and calculations into a single click? “That was the real challenge,” Berdica says. “People were doing payroll by hand, and we had to make it fast and accurate.” But it didn’t stop there. “Tax regulations change in the blink of an eye — and then we had to explain to clients why this box in the cloud isn’t a joke.” How did they manage? “We made software that doesn’t wear you out, taught people how to use it, and found some smart friends to help spread the word.”
FastPayroll isn’t just a platform — it’s a time-saver. “Imagine 100 paychecks done in 15 minutes,” Berdica says. “It used to take hours, maybe even a strong coffee to survive.” It’s cloud-based, so you can use it from the beach if you want, and if something goes wrong, there’s someone online to help. “We didn’t invent something from scratch,” he adds, “but we made what already existed a thousand times less awful.”
Berdica has plans that sound like a strategy game. “We’ll add data analytics to show you what’s happening with your money and connect it to things like HR or finances,” he explains. What about outside Albania? “Yeah, we’ll give it a shot, but without pretending we’re superheroes. One step there, one step here.” And banks? “We’re talking to them — something interesting might come up.”

He didn’t do it alone. “We had mentors who said, ‘Don’t do it this way, try this,’ and partners who tested it before it went live,” Berdica shares. “Without them, we’d still be crawling.”
Winning funding from the Challenge Fund is a boost for FastPayroll’s engine. “We’ll bring in more people — developers to add new features, staff to answer clients, and maybe someone who knows how to advertise without seeming annoying,” he says. They’ll improve the platform and ensure everything complies with the latest regulations. “And we’ll make some noise so people give it a try.”
When asked what’s next, Berdica doesn’t give grandiose speeches. “I want it to be something you open when you’re in a bind and say, ‘Thank goodness this exists,’” he says. How would he like to be remembered? “As the tool that saved you from paperwork and payroll stress. That’s enough for me.”
FastPayroll is “like a friend who takes a weight off your shoulders,” and with Besar steering the ship, it seems poised to keep surprising us — without trying to be something it’s not.
