In a room filled with healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, media, and tech users, Medapp, the innovative Albanian app aiming to bring order to the chaos of our health records, was officially launched yesterday.
Conceived and developed by Gerion Treska, Medapp is presented as a “personal medical portfolio” – accessible with just one click on your phone. The app offers an intelligent and personalized way to manage medical documents, share data with doctors, and locate nearby clinics in real time.
During the launch event, attendees were given a detailed walkthrough of the app’s features, followed by a Q&A session. The audience expressed keen interest in topics such as data privacy, digital security, and the startup’s plans for international expansion.
One of the most discussed questions was:
“Will Medapp be able to connect with existing health insurance systems in the future?”
In response, Treska emphasized:
“That’s one of our medium-term goals. We want Medapp to be more than just an app – we envision it as a functional bridge between patients and key stakeholders in the healthcare system.”
What Makes Medapp Different?
Unlike many systems that prioritize institutions, Medapp puts the individual patient at the center. It’s built for:
- Parents tracking their children’s medical checkups,
- Chronic patients keeping records of their history,
- Anyone looking for easy, secure, and organized access to their health information.
With Medapp, users can:
- Create profiles for all family members,
- Upload and categorize medical documents,
- Share data with their doctor via a secure link,
- Use an interactive map to find doctors and clinics nearby.
From Albania to the Region
The event also marked a new chapter for the startup:
- Version 2.0 of the app is in development, with an improved user experience (UX),
- Partnerships with clinics and pharmacies are being established,
- The goal is to expand across the Balkans, where similar healthcare challenges call for smart, user-centered solutions.
Medapp doesn’t aim to replace the healthcare system – it aims to become a reliable companion for every citizen navigating it. It’s a clear example of how technology, when built from a real human need and with care, can naturally integrate into our everyday lives.
