Parking is one of the biggest challenges in large cities, especially in Tirana, where limited spaces and high demand create a chaotic situation for drivers. This is where LookUp Parking comes in—a revolutionary startup aiming to change the way people find and book parking spots in Albanian cities. One of the co-founders of LookUp Parking is Delin Spahiu, a UI/UX designer and marketer with whom we conducted an interview to learn more about his startup. The other founders are Xhurian Shaba, the lead developer, and Alvi Palloshi, a mobile application developer.
“The idea for LookUp was born from the personal experience of one of the co-founders while using Airbnb to book a vacation home,” explains Delin Spahiu. “Since the house had a free garage in an area where parking was a problem, it was thought that this space could be rented out during the vacation period, generating revenue. This concept expanded to include all unused spaces that could be turned into parking opportunities.”
LookUp’s mission is to make parking easier, faster, and more organized for all users. The platform aims to reduce the time spent searching for a parking spot, optimize the use of existing parking spaces, and allow anyone to generate income while contributing to improving the city’s infrastructure.
“What sets us apart from competitors is our dual-market approach and the innovative technology we use,” emphasizes Delin. “Our parking blockers, controlled through the application, are a product fully developed by our team and ensure the safety of the reserved spot.” LookUp Parking is a complete platform that allows users to find, book, and pay for parking 100% online, ensuring a safe and easy-to-use experience.
Like any startup, LookUp Parking has faced various challenges, including mistrust towards online payments and the lack of a developed infrastructure for digitalizing parking services in Albania. However, LookUp has managed to build a dedicated and specialized team in application development and data management. This initial success shows that there is great interest in this type of solution in the Albanian market.
“We aim to expand into other cities and add more parking spaces, both public and private,” Delin adds. “Additionally, we plan to implement parking availability prediction using Artificial Intelligence technology, as well as establish partnerships with public and private institutions to further improve our service.”
Through LookUp Parking, Delin Spahiu and his team are creating a platform that not only improves the parking experience for users but also offers an economic opportunity for owners of unused spaces. The combination of technology, innovation, and focus on the needs of the local market has given LookUp Parking a unique advantage in tackling competition and building a more organized ecosystem for urban mobility.
