After a very successful and engaging Hackathon, the jury took one week time to evaluate the proposed ideas during the pitching session. 12 start-ups and businesses are selected to benefit from Circular City Labs Tirana Accelerator.
1. Baboon (Kris Murati)
Baboon is a food delivery and corporate catering on-demand marketplace with more than 600 active restaurants, 250 active couriers, and over 50 companies served every day in Albania. Baboon plans to establish a delivery system that transports reusable packages to their partner restaurants, where employees can place these packages into a designated washing machine.
2. Babylicious (Safete Muço)
Babylicious is committed to offering eco-friendly, safe, and sustainable products for babies and kids. It also promotes healthier shopping habits by offering reusable tote bags crafted from recycled fabrics and organic cotton and multifunctional cardboard boxes that can be returned or transformed into eco-friendly toys for children.
3. Barefoot Festival Eco festival (Keti Hoxha, Ermonela Koleci)
Keti Hoxha, an architect, and Ermonela Koleci, a specialist in events coordination, are two female enterpreneurs who partnered during the Hackathon with the main aim to provide an innovative solution to the reusable packaging systems by introducing Mobile Refill System, reducing single-use packaging waste at large events, such as the Barefoot Festival, through on-site cleaning promoting reuse.
4. Biocosm Laboratory (Anxhela Oshafi)
Biocosm Laboratory is specialized in the production of entirely organic products, with a special focus on offering sustainable and a good quality of items designated for hair, face, and body care. Biocosm Laboratory aims to incorporate reusable packaging into their product lines, to reduce waste and to encourage sustainability among their customers.
5. Birraria e Gjyshit (Etien Zeka, Brewery Founder)
Birra e Gjyshit represents a producer and vendor of beverage in the reuse system, and it is dedicated to producing local craft beer with a special focus on sustainability. It aims to reduce packaging costs and environmental impact by implementing a take-back system for reusable glass bottles and switching to reusable containers for delivering.
6. Gjelbër (Gerhard Veizi, Co-Founder)
Gjelbër is a start-up that offers healthy cooked foods, packed goods and vegan food options as well as healthy beverages. They aim to expand their reusable packaging system through a subscription-based plan for return stations.
7. MarigoApp (Xheni Maloku, Founder)
MarigoApp is a project in the retail industry that targets local fashion brands and offers reselling option solutions to individuals. Its main objective is the replacement of non-reusable packaging with better sustainable alternatives for online shopping and consequently introducing the online clients to a new habit of behaviour regarding packaging.
8. Panja (Glen Struga, Manager)
Panja brings healthy and innovative substitutes towards dairy industry using almond as their base product, while placing the products in glass jars and using paper bags for in-store orders. The innovative solution stands on offering their clients the option of reusable bags, and changing the packaging material which will be made of recycled paper for their bakery.
9. Patoko (Arbër Kadia, CEO)
Patoko consists of a comprehensive app that offers a wide range of services, revolutionizing the way people navigate their daily lives. In a nutshell, Patoko is a mobility platform that enables users to easily request rides and transportation services. Patoko wants to be committed in the circular economy as a system operator offering a user-friendly platform that simplifies, providing immediate rewards and incentives for eco-friendly behaviors, and raising awareness through engaging content and gamified experiences.
10. ProNatyra MD (Anisa Meçi)
Pronatyra MD operates and runs a network of food supermarkets in cooperation with various Italian brands, and it offers quick solutions for consumers with pre-weighed products. Their aim is to promote reusability to their customer base by providing return and cleaning stations.
11. SilkyWet (Alisa Limaj, CEO & Co-Founder)
Silky Wet Cleaning represents a washing center and provides durable, reusable garment bags and hangers to reduce single-use plastic waste in the laundry industry. These bags and hungers are designed to be used multiple times, reducing single-use plastic waste.
12. TOK Digital Agency (Erind Alickolli, Co-Founder)
TOK Digital Agency is specialized in event management, including branding, web design, social media management, video production, and digital marketing since 2016. TOK Digital Agency enhances event management with a focus on reusable packaging, aiming to minimize waste and promote social sustainability through their innovative Reusable Event Kit System (REKit System).
Looking forward to seeing the solution and contribution they will develop for the city of Tirana, towards a circular economy, reducing waste and fostering sustainable development by exploring viable reusable packaging systems in the city.
