Following the approval of the law on startups in the Albanian parliament, the Ministry for the Protection of Entrepreneurship in cooperation with AlbaniaTech organized Tuesday, March 29, 2022 an open meeting for startups.
In this meeting were discussed further steps and ideas on the bylaws supporting the law for startups. A large part of ecosystem startups, but not only joined the meeting, ready to express their needs as businesses in the first steps of development.
Migena Muslli, Director of Innovation and Projects at the AIDA agency, now part of the team of Minister Edona Bilali, gave a detailed explanation on the actors mentioned by the law and the various categories which will benefit from support and grants from the government fund. She explained that the division for startup categories is currently envisaged as:
Early-Stage Startups
Growth phase startups, which includes the startups that are registered in the QKB for a maximum of 1 year.
Expansion phase startups, which includes the startups that have operated in the market for a period of 1-3 years.
Many points of discussion were presented by the participants in terms of funding procedures, registration, and eligibility criteria for financial support, but not only. The founders and managers of startups gave their opinions on improving the law and its bylaws.
The Minister, Edona Bilali, said that the meetings with all actors will continue following a joint effort to advance the ecosystem. A second meeting with startups is also under discussion, due to the interest shown in this meeting.
