The second cohort of the Plug and Play Tirana accelerator program was officially launched today in Tirana, marking another important milestone for Albania’s startup and innovation ecosystem. The event brought together representatives of public institutions, international partners, and young entrepreneurs in a ceremony that reaffirmed the continuity and ambition of the program.

The opening remarks were delivered by Uranik Begu, Director of Southeast Europe at Plug and Play, who highlighted the importance of building a strong and sustainable bridge between Albanian startups and global markets. This was followed by welcome speeches from Anuela Ristani, Mayor of Tirana (TBC), and Shqipe Berisha, CEO of TUMO Tirana, both of whom reaffirmed institutional support for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Next, Martin Mata, Co-CEO of the Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF), shared his perspective on the role of accelerator programs in creating resilient and competitive companies across the region.

One of the key moments of the event was the presentation of the startups selected for Batch 2, which will take part in an intensive eight-month program. These startups operate across sectors such as AI, ClimateTech, HealthTech, Mobility, GovTech, ConstructionTech, Digital Health, TravelTech, and Cybersecurity—reflecting both the diversity and the growing maturity of innovation emerging from Albania and the wider region.

According to the organizers, the Plug and Play Tirana program includes eight weeks of dedicated bootcamps, culminating in the Plug and Play Tirana Expo. The program also features the Global Overseas Acceleration & Learning (GOAL) component in Silicon Valley, offering Albanian startups direct access to Plug and Play’s global experience, mentorship, and network. This creates concrete pathways toward investment opportunities, strategic partnerships, and pilot projects in international markets.
