Programming, a male-dominated sector in Albania is being challenged by many young girls and women developers. This was demonstrated in the event SHE CODES, where five women programmers with the presence of more than 30 participants discussed and shared inspiring stories and concrete examples from their daily work as programming professionals.
The coordinator of the KODO academy, co-organizer of this event said that the ‘SHECODES’ aimed to bring to attention the vital work that women in programming are currently doing and to encourage more girls and women to be part of this ecosystem.
"History has always shown that the figure of a woman is an inspiring example and she becomes even more inspiring when we celebrate successes and share our achievements. This is why the activity "SHE CODES" came as an activity to unite and promote more professional women in the field of programming and many other girls who want to become part of this ecosystem "- said Hidri.
This activity served also as a platform to upskill by creating a vibrant community for today’s increasingly technological job market for girls and women in Albania.
SHE CODES anchored in Global Entrepreneurship Week with the support of Google Developer Group & Women Tech Makers a local developers and technologists community; KODO the newest coding academy in Tirana; division5 a design & development agency and Destil Creative Hub a co-working & co-living multi-functional center.
