The program for the new digital generation in Albania, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), whose application started last year after the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the Vodafone Albania Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Sports, has completed the second phase of training for teachers and students aged 12-18, in 60 schools throughout the country.

This project aims to develop digital skills in students, so that they can think of innovative solutions and create a better future for all with the help of technology.

The second phase of this project was concluded at the event "STEM Next Generation - Digital Skills for Albania," held at the premises of Vodafone Albania, where the best coding projects were presented and awarded. The event was attended by students engaged in the 10 selected projects among the 60 competing schools, representatives of Vodafone Albania, the Ministry of Education, SciCo organization, and other STEM partners.

Balázs Révész, the General Director of Vodafone Albania, said during his speech, "Technology can help us solve problems in our societies, build a more sustainable planet, and improve life in the cities we live in. You will be the generation of the future, and you will be the ones who can make a difference. So, continue to explore new horizons through the STEM program. I am confident that in 10 years, you will see yourselves in the jobs you are already envisioning today, thanks to the knowledge you are acquiring now."

At the end of his speech, Révész thanked all the students for their exceptional ideas, the teachers who guided them, opening new horizons, the Vodafone Albania Foundation, and all the collaborators who have been part of this important program for the digital generation in Albania.

Present at the event, the Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Nina Guga, said, "STEM has already entered every part of our lives and our curriculum. I want to thank the Vodafone Albania Foundation as an early supporter partner of the Ministry of Education and Sports, even during our difficult days of the pandemic, by helping us with the power of technology. We are enriching our schools day by day with smart labs, with the digital platform SMIP, where now certificates, diplomas, and documents are also offered with electronic seals and online registration through the e-Albania system."

The projects selected as the best were evaluated by a jury composed of 7 members, professionals in the field, including the General Director of Vodafone Albania.

The first place was awarded to the project "Dream Cube and Road Lighting at Night," carried out by students of the "Fadil Gurmani" school in Elbasan, led by teacher Bianka Latifi. The second place was won by students of the "31 Korriku" school in Burrel, led by teacher Zenepe Dedja, with the project "Eco House," while the third place was won by students of the "100th Anniversary" school in Kamëz, led by teacher Davita Hajdari, with the project "The Blind Man's Cane."

The winners also received gifts, namely HP Laptops for the first-place team, Blackview Tablets for the second-place team, and Samsung Galaxy Smartwatches for the third-place team.

Generation Next is part of the Skills Upload Jr. Program, funded by the Vodafone Group Foundation, as part of the strategic agenda for digital empowerment in Europe (with an investment of 40 million euros in European markets), which is being carried out over a three-year period. Digital empowerment is part of Vodafone's objectives.

The Generation Next program is the first project implemented in Albanian public schools with an approved curriculum, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
