Tirana was recently awarded as European Youth Capital for 2022, an award that will bring a lot of activities, projects, and extraordinary promotion for the capital, and as a consequence for Albania.
“The municipality has made a plan of hosting around 1000 activities during the year.”, expressed Ketrina Jarazi, Director of Tourism in the municipality of Tirana, in the event held at Tumo Center for Youth, intending to unite the ecosystem actors in the tourism sector to showcase their startups, businesses, and projects and to highlight their problems regarding tourism.
A long discussion between the guests and the representatives of the municipality highlighted the problems these startups and businesses are facing in their daily operations and the ways the municipality can help with the solutions. Some of the problems mentioned were the lack of workforce in hotels, lack of training for this workforce, as well as high rates of employee turnover after the season's peak. Another main issue was environmental pollution, where a few ways such as periodical campaigns were presented as solutions.
Erisa Muzhaqi, representative of the Innovation Team on the Municipality of Tirana also underlined that their focus will be on Digital Nomads, on how to better their experience in Tirana, and how to make them feel that they can suggest Albania to other nomads, or Expats as well.
The municipality will be open to projects and ideas from individuals and companies until the 28th of January 2022.
This was one of the few first events that are going to be taking place in Tirana during the year, so make sure to keep yourself updated on our EVENTS section for more.
