The 22nd edition of the Tirana International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the most prestigious cinema events in Albania and the region, will take place from September 22 to 28, 2024. This Oscar®-qualifying and European Film Awards-accredited festival will feature over 200 film premieres from around the world, including both short and feature-length projects in various genres.

One of the highlights of this edition is the RetrospectTIFF program, dedicated to legendary actor Marcello Mastroianni. In honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth, TIFF will screen four of the most significant films of his career, including classics such as “8½” and “La Dolce Vita” by the iconic director Federico Fellini.

Additionally, the Albanian film Kapedani will be screened for the first time in its restored 4K format. This classic comedy, a cultural reference for generations, will have its premiere at the Millennium Cinema.

A special focus will be placed on emerging Albanian and regional talent. The Kosova’s Young Film Talents program will showcase short films from students of the Faculty of Arts in Kosovo, highlighting the growth of young filmmakers in the region.

For those interested in the film industry, SCREENPLAY ContesTIFF will present 10 nominated screenplays selected by producers and distributors, offering real opportunities for them to be turned into successful films. In addition, the ICDA’s Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting will honor outstanding achievements in casting, a crucial element in high-quality film production.

The festival will also offer special programs for young audiences, such as the KIDs Program and TEENs, featuring films specifically created for children aged 5-10 and 11+. At the “Tonin Harapi” Cinema in the Artistic High School, children will have the opportunity to enjoy short films and participate in the evaluation process through their votes.

For the first time, TIFF will introduce films created using artificial intelligence (AI), bringing an innovative program accompanied by discussions on the impact of AI in cinema, opening new horizons for both audiences and filmmakers.

With a rich program that includes tributes to film legends, premieres of new works, and activities for industry professionals, TIFF 2024 promises to be an unforgettable cinematic celebration.
