Now you can explore Tirana with an open-top sightseeing bus. The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has shared some photos of the new initiative that allows many tourists to take a tour of the main attractions in the capital. "Who's up for a ride? Now you can visit Tirana with OpenBus Albania. The newest bus that takes you all around the city, for both local and foreign visitors who want to get acquainted with the city's attractions, monuments, and history," writes Veliaj.
Tirana is a city that thrives with tourists, almost every month of the year. From 2015-2016, when Tirana was visited by no more than 100,000 tourists, within 8 years, their number reached 4.5 million. The quadrupling of tourist numbers has had a positive impact on the city's economy. The number of people employed in the tourism sector (hotels, services) has increased by 30,000, or in other words, more than 2.3 times. Previously, Tirana did not have any internationally recognized hotel brands, but today the Albanian capital has well-known names from all around the world.
