Plug and Play Tirana continues its mission to strengthen Albania’s innovation ecosystem through a series of inspiring activities and conversations that spotlight founders, young professionals, women in technology, and many other industry stakeholders. The afternoon of April 17th became one of those moments where ideas come to life and success stories inspire the next generation of innovators.

Held at the “Innovation Hub” on the lower floor of the Pyramid of Tirana, the “Women in Tech” event was designed to celebrate and empower the role of women in the tech industry—especially in the era of artificial intelligence.

The panel featured prominent voices in the field:

  • Anna Lena Drewitz, Head of Corporate Strategy at Lufthansa Group, shared insights on how one of the world’s largest airline companies builds its technological and organizational strategies.
  • Dr. Kathrin Steinbrink, Head of AI XPRESS, offered a deep perspective on the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, particularly when led by women.
  • Ledi Imeraj, General Director of the Agency for Innovation and Excellence, emphasized the need for public institutions to support women pursuing careers in technology and innovation.

The panel was moderated by Hannah Boomgaarden from Plug and Play, who brought a warm and engaging energy to the conversation, making it accessible and inspiring for the diverse audience in attendance.

Discussions centered around increasing women’s representation in the tech sector, the importance of mentorship and peer support among women, and overcoming gender biases in professional environments.
