The Albanian innovation ecosystem, which is increasingly consolidating into a network of ambitious ventures with international aspirations, is being showcased at Bits & Pretzels 2026, one of Europe’s leading startup and innovation events, taking place in Munich, Germany.
This year, Albania is participating as a partner country, represented by 17 startups from Albania, Kosovo and the diaspora. Beyond showcasing their individual success stories, these companies offer a broader picture of the transformation currently taking place within the Albanian innovation ecosystem.
Attending Bits & Pretzels, Albania’s Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, said:
“Seventeen selected startups are operating in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and education. These sectors were chosen deliberately, as they are among the most in-demand fields in international markets today. The aim is for these startups to share their ideas, connect with peers and attract more investment to our market. Events like this help put Albania on the global startup ecosystem map and support our ambition to reach the level of countries that already have a strong presence in international markets.”
The promotion of the Albanian innovation ecosystem at Bits & Pretzels is an initiative of Startup Albania and EU4Innovation (GIZ), as part of ongoing efforts to expand the international presence of Albanian startups and connect them with European innovation and investment networks.
Participation in Bits & Pretzels 2026 follows an increasingly active presence of Albanian startups at major international innovation events, including ITB Berlin, VivaTech and Slush, gradually strengthening Albania’s position on the European map of innovative entrepreneurship.
