Anaida Deti left Albania in 1997. After living for over 5 years in Italy, she moved to Canada. Her studies in Dentistry in Italy were not recognized and she had to start all over again.

-"I spoke very little English, I had learned it in school, but I hadn’t practiced it, it was very basic and it was very difficult to understand from the accent that people had here. I started learning English (ESL). I graduated from high school and started college as a dental assistant. "I worked for a year and a half but I wanted to do something more."

So she decided to return to her studies and this time she studied as a dental hygienist for two years. She now owns the state license for 10 years and has opened her dental clinic DentalX, after two years of work in different clinics.

-“In the beginning, I shared the space with other dental professionals in 3 different clinics, but it was very difficult because we had different visions on the business and the treatment of clients. I opened my clinic in May 2016 after 9 months of research", says Anaida.

Her start was very difficult and she could not wait for the phone to ring and the door to open. But now she is satisfied. Her clinic treats over 3,000 patients and has a staff of dentists of various nationalities.

Among the challenges, she lists language and schooling from scratch.

-"I had to go to school and work after school. Long and tiring days with different jobs, in supermarkets, etc., until I finished school. Another challenge was to be a mom and have a business.”

-"While I was going to school and working, I also had a very young son, and many times I was sleep-deprived and I had to continue the day even though I did not rest at all. When I gave birth to my daughter, I had to get back to work three days after. It is very difficult to manage family and business at the same time, as you are not at work 9 to 5, but the work never ends, even when you are out of the clinic."

But if she went back, she explains that the only thing she would do differently would be to spend more time with her children.

-"Children grow up very fast and those moments when they are small never come back. So I try to spend as much time with them as possible and travel together as much as possible to create as many memories."

Meanwhile, her goals are numerous. She sees many opportunities for business development outside Albania and encourages young people to work hard to fulfill their dreams. It can be very difficult, but not impossible. With a lot of work and determination, anything is possible, according to her.

Her challenges were awarded many times during her life, here is a list of awards she has been given:
