“Bytes & Books”, the first book club on the impact of Technology on Society!

In a constantly changing world where technology is shaping every process of our lives, it is essential to learn and understand how it interacts with us. Rightfully so, many of us refer to the time we are living in as the “era of techno-humanism,” as technology plays a key role in every aspect of our daily activities. If we fail to understand it and use its tools and applications properly, we will not be able to adapt to the environment around us.

It is precisely in this context of dramatic changes, at a time when each of us must learn and enhance our interactive skills, that we are creating the “Bytes & Books” Book Club. This club will select for reading and discussion the best works written by some of the world’s most renowned authors on technological developments and their impact on society, such as Yuval Noah Harari, Paul Scharre, Walter Isaacson, Ashley Vance, Sulejman Mustafa, Brad Smith, Chris Miller, Henry Kissinger, Matt Burgess, Eric Schmidt, and others.

Of course, reading alone only gives us an idea of what is happening in our world, but through this club, we aim to bring together experts in the field, students and pupils passionate about technology, readers, and publishers. Through discussions and shared experiences, we will have the opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of what is happening in our time. At the same time, we want to share quality insights and experiences about how technology shapes our environment and impacts our daily lives.

The books selected for discussion will focus on technology and its influence on the human mind, education, the job market, and society as a whole. Special attention will be given to the role of Artificial Intelligence, its opportunities, but also the risks it poses to society, as well as the growing need for legal regulation and ethical considerations in its use. These discussions will serve as an important platform to evaluate the relationship between technology and entrepreneurship, the latest developments in automation, the production of humanoid robots, their impact on various professions and the global market—phenomena that characterize what is now defined as the “Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

The “Bytes & Books” Book Club is led by a board consisting of Mr. Geron Kamberi, an expert and researcher with experience in scientific research policy, innovation, and European integration; Dr. Albert Gjoka, a researcher and leader with extensive experience in book management and promoting reading, Executive Director of the “Institute of Culture and Education for Development”; and Mr. Gerti Boshnjaku, an expert in entrepreneurship and innovation, director of “Business Mag” and “Albania Tech.”

This initiative emerges as an urgent need, especially for our youth, but also as a call to bring together readers, books, and discussions on theories about technology’s impact on society in a single agora (forum), with a particular focus on practical approaches to its application in everyday life. Debates about the challenges of the technological revolution we are experiencing, especially those related to the various applications of Artificial Intelligence, aim to foster meaningful interaction among top experts, students, pupils, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

The club’s forums will take place once a month, with each meeting centered around a carefully selected book that addresses the hottest global topics on the role of technology in society. All individuals interested in these topics and eager to exchange knowledge and opinions in these fields are welcome to join the club by registering in advance, as there are limited spots available. As participants in our monthly meetings, they will have the chance to gain detailed insights about the book, benefit from the experiences of other readers, purchase books at discounted prices, and meet people with whom they can freely share ideas and thoughts on these pressing issues of our time.

Through this club, everyone will gain a better understanding of technology and its impact on our lives, raising awareness about its most beneficial use for themselves and their surroundings. “Bytes & Books” is open to collaboration with educational institutions, universities, the business world—especially companies focused on technology and innovation development—as well as publishers, authors, translators, and various reading groups.

Through this book club and its monthly meetings, we aim to build an active community of readers focused on communication and information technology, increase awareness of its influence on our lives and businesses, and enhance the knowledge of young people and students about the global debate surrounding this new technological revolution. Additionally, we hope to establish a sustainable model of collaboration between businesses, publishers, and the community, particularly readers interested in these fields.

Creating, sustaining, and developing this community is the greatest challenge for the initiators and supporting members, which is why everyone is invited to contribute in this direction. With this approach, we will better understand what is happening and interact more effectively with the reality around us.

Therefore, we kindly invite you to save your place on BYTES & BOOKS first meeting on 5th March!
