Over 150 candidates will compete for the Albanian ICT Awards, which celebrate technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship achievements at the national level.

The mission of the Albanian ICT Awards is to recognize and promote the work of these entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, and technology stars for their contribution that makes us look forward to a hopeful future. To celebrate success, reward achievements, and raise the profile of the technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation community in the Albanian-speaking region, the 11th edition of the Albanian ICT Awards closed applications on April 30th, 2023, and received 117 applications from over 150 candidates in six different categories.

This is an event founded and organized by ICTSmedia and the ALBICT Association, with the 11th edition officially opening on March 10th, 2023. Albanian ICT Awards has entered its second decade with a comprehensive mission for the entire Albanian technology community, influenced public perception of the role of technology in Albanian society.

The jury of the Albanian ICT Awards has been gathered. 

An independent group of professionals and distinguished technology figures from public and private institutions, academic institutions, and successful businesses and entrepreneurs met for their first meeting on May 2nd, 2023, in Tirana, and virtual participation from Pristina.

The 11th edition jury is composed of: Blerim Rexha, Edlira Martiri, Igli Gjelishti, Erion Serti, Gjergji Guri, Faola Hodaj, Linda Shomo, Ermal Beqiri, Ardiola Hristiç, Ervis Smakaj, Gazmend Selmani, Enis Vehapi, Visar Shehu, and Evi Hoxha.

During their first meeting, the jury was introduced to the list of nominations and applications from over 150 candidates and their 117 innovative projects competing for the top technology awards. Unlike in previous years, the ICT Awards jury was divided into three different evaluation committees this edition according to the category and expertise of the jury members. With a long managerial experience in technology and a five-year jury member profile in the ICT Awards, Mr. Gjergji Guri, founder of Facilization, was unanimously voted as the jury's chairman. Mr. Erion Serti, a member of the Information Technology and Operations Management Board at Raiffeisen Bank Albania and with long experience in technology, was voted as the jury's deputy chairman.

Two more meetings will follow between the jury and a shortlist of candidates who will present their projects leading up to the Gala Evening.

The Albanian ICT Awards Tour

The 11th edition of the Albanian ICT Awards began its tour of over 25 meetings in March at primary and secondary schools, universities, innovation spaces, Albanian municipalities, and beyond.

During the informative meetings organized during the application phase, thanks to a collaboration with the Union of Albanian Municipalities and Communes in the Region, a representation of Albanian ICT Awards was received by the Mayor of Ferizaj, Mr. Agim Aliu, the Mayor of Gjakova, Mr. Ardian Gjini, the Deputy Mayor of Presheva, Mr. Almin Shaqiri, the Mayor of Bujanoc, Mr. Nagip Arifi, in Kosovo and the Presheva Valley, as well as by the Minister of Information Society and Public Administration, Mr. Azir Aliu, in North Macedonia and Mr. Festim Halili, Director of the Innovation and Technological Development Fund.

The informative meetings in Albania and Kosovo continued until the end of the application process at: Mediterranean University of Albania, British Technology Gymnasium, Canadian Institute of Technology, AAB College, Innovation Academy, Epoka University, University of Prishtina, Luarasi University, Polytechnic University of Tirana, Harry Fultz Institute, Universum International College, Prizren Digital School, University of Prizren, Riinvest College, Technical School "Gjergj Canco", Hermann Gmeiner Professional Middle School and RIT Kosovo/AUK. 

The 11th edition of this competition received online applications in six categories: ICT Innovation of the Year, ICT Startup of the Year, ICT Diploma of the Year, ICT Rising Star up to 16 years old, ICT Rising Star 16-21 years old, and Cyber Security Awards. This competition is organized by ICTSmedia and the ALBICT Association, and for 10 years has held over 300 events with 2500 competitors and 200 finalists. The announcement of the winners of the Albanian ICT Awards will be made on May 26, 2023, at the Gala Evening.

The winners of the Albanian ICT Awards over the years have been individuals whose professional careers are an example of overcoming challenges and success, whose efforts, determination, and creativity have given them a prestigious recognition in the Albanian technology community in Albania, Kosovo, and the region.
